Luciano Spalletti is confident that Juventus will finish inside the Serie A top four despite dropping points in their pursuit of Champions League football at Roma on Sunday. 

Spalletti watched on as his Juventus team snatched a point at Stadio Olimpico, with Federico Gatti's 93rd-minute equaliser sealing a share of the spoils.

Francisco Conceicao's stunning goal had cancelled out Wesley's 39th-minute opener, but Roma hit back with two strikes from Evan Ndicka and the in-form Donyell Malen. 

However, substitute Jeremie Boga kick-started the revival 12 minutes from time before Gatti smashed past Mile Svilar following Edon Zhegrova's dangerous free-kick. 

Timed at 92 minutes and 15 seconds, Gatti's late finish is the third-latest goal by a Juventus player against Roma in Serie A, after Osvaldo in May 2014 (93:52) and Felipe Melo in August 2009 (92:32).

And it was an intervention that could prove crucial to Juventus' top-four hopes. Had they lost, they would have been seven points behind Roma, who sit in fourth. 

Juventus are assigned a 25.8% chance of finishing in the top four, with Roma (57.4%) and Napoli (69.7%) all better fancied in the Opta supercomputers season simulations, while Como (24.5%) and Atalanta (8.8%) are also in with a shout.  

And Spalletti believed there was reason to be optimistic, telling DAZN Italia: "Of course, I believe in this. I live for fourth place. Give it form, and I live for that position.

"We had a moment where too much weighed on us, and we were not too fortunate either, but this team has grown a great deal in many different aspects.

"I believe we will have a splendid final portion of the season."

Juventus' result came after their exit from the Champions League in midweek, with the Bianconeri losing 5-7 on aggregate to Galatasaray after coming from 5-2 down in the tie to force extra-time. 

Spalletti conceded his team's slow start ultimately cost them, but could not deny the fighting spirit that is within his ranks. 

"If we are talking about the reaction, then yes I am happy, but if we look at the first season, then I am not very happy," he added. "We have to make an objective evaluation here.

"We go out of the Champions League in that manner after playing 120 minutes and getting a situation back on track that had become a mountain to climb.

"However, we were also too sluggish on the second and third goals. The players believed, they fought back, but we put ourselves in that situation too."

The pick of the goals in the contest came from the left boot of Conceicao, who rifled the ball into the top-left corner after being teed up by Bremer's bobbling pass. 

Conceicao had not scored in Serie A since the reverse fixture against Roma on December 20.

He netted his third goal in his 20th league appearance, already as many as he scored in 26 matches last season, and he acknowledged he must do more in the final third.

"It was a good goal, but I am much happier with what we did after going 3-1 down, as it was much more difficult then," Conceicao told DAZN Italia.

"The team worked really hard, and I feel if any team deserved to win it, then it was us, as we had some really clear chances. 

"In order to reach the next level, I certainly need to score more goals. I am the first to acknowledge that I am working hard on it in training.

"I know that playing for Juve, you need to be more effective in front of goal. I am the first to be upset when I don't score."
