Cristian Chivu has warned his Inter side they have not yet wrapped up the Scudetto, despite Saturday's 2-0 victory over Genoa taking them further clear at the top of Serie A.

Inter entered matchday 27 with a 10-point lead over AC Milan at the summit, and goals from Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu handed them a 2-0 win at San Siro.

The Nerazzurri have collected 67 points from just 27 matches, only the third time they have done so in a Serie A season, after 2006-07 (73) and 2023-24 (72). They won the Scudetto on both of those occasions.

They have won eight Serie A games in a row for the first time since January to March 2024 (a 10-match run), while their 22 victories this season are the most in Europe's top five leagues.

"We prepare for every match in the best way, mentally and physically, treating every game the same way without looking at the name of our opponents," Chivu told Sky Sport Italia.

"That is what we have been trying to do since the start of the season. There are 11 rounds to go, 33 points up for grabs, so the Scudetto is not won yet. 

"We want to build on all the good things we've done in the last two and a half months."

Inter's win represented the ideal response to their humiliating Champions League exit, after they were beaten by Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in both legs of their play-off tie (3-1 home, 2-1 away).

Chivu's team still have two opportunities to lift silverware this season, with a two-legged Coppa Italia semi-final tie against Como on the horizon.

They go on the road to face Cesc Fabregas' team in the first leg on Tuesday, before facing Milan in the Derby della Madonnina next weekend.

"All 24 players work hard and have a winning mentality, they never grumble, and they always accept the reality of the situation, whether it's in Serie A, the Coppa Italia or Champions League," Chivu said. 

"We want to be competitive, we've had ups and downs, but we have ambition and are in good shape."
