Luis Enrique believes Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League semi-final first leg with Bayern Munich will see Europe's top two teams collide, in a battle he is confident of winning.

PSG welcome the Bundesliga champions to the Parc des Princes on Tuesday for a mouth-watering clash as both look to reach next month's showpiece match in Budapest. 

The Parisiens booked their place in the final four with a 4-0 aggregate triumph over Liverpool, while Bayern beat 15-time winners Real Madrid 6-4 across two legs. 

Luis Enrique's side are assigned a 21% chance of going back-to-back, while Bayern are handed a 35% probability of going all the way by the Opta supercomputer.

The two sides have already met in this season's competition, with a Luis Diaz brace sealing a 2-1 win for Bayern, even though the Colombian was sent off in first-half stoppage time. 

Ahead of kick-off, the PSG boss outlined his desire to take a first-leg lead to the Allianz Arena, while also stating that though Bayern may have been more consistent across all competitions this season, his players are the ones to beat. 

"These are Europe's top two teams, although Arsenal have also had a great season," Luis Enrique told reporters.

"In terms of consistency, Bayern are perhaps slightly above us because they've only lost two games, but in terms of what we've shown, there's no team better than us.

"After we missed out on the top eight [in the league phase], I said that there was no team better than us.

"You need to attack more than you defend if you want to win, and we know how hard that will be, but we're not here to negotiate; we want to win."

Bayern, meanwhile, arrive with the wind in their sails having wrapped up the Bundesliga title, along with reaching the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal in midweek. 

But Vincent Kompany's side were forced to battle from three goals down to beat Mainz 4-3 in their last league outing, with the Bayern boss opting to rest some of his star first-team players such as Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise. 

All three came off the bench to score in the second-half turnaround, though this time Kompany will have to serve his managerial duties from the stands, having received his third yellow card of this season's Champions League during the quarter-final second leg against Madrid.

"It's down to us to perform on the pitch," England captain Kane stressed when asked about the fact Kompany won't be on the touchline on Tuesday.

"We'll miss him on the touchline. He's our boss, a coach who'd love to be out there with us.

"I'm expecting a tough game but am excited about the challenge. We're ready. It's now about performing."

Following his strike against Mainz, Kane has now netted 56 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions this season, more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues. 

The 32-year-old has been a revelation since joining from Tottenham for a reported €100m (£86.5m) transfer fee in 2023, and has amassed 138 goals in 141 appearances across all competitions for the club. 

Kane's current deal is due to expire at the end of next season, though Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that contract talks between the two parties are set to be opened at the conclusion of the campaign. 

"Bringing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich was a major coup in the club's history," Rummenigge told T-Online.

"It's well known that he had a release clause. He didn't activate it, signalling that he would definitely stay in Munich.

"And now, the relevant management in the operational area – as agreed – will hold talks with him sometime after the season, with the clear aim of extending his contract because Harry has undergone another transformation under Vincent Kompany.

"He's always been a great striker who scored a lot of goals, but now he's a playmaker, dropping back into midfield and using his wonderful long passes to bring Michael Olise and Luis Diaz into the game. That's very important for our style of play."

PSG – Vitinha

Vitinha has completed 1,370 passes in the Champions League this season, the highest total by a player in a single edition on record (since 2003-04).

The Portuguese midfielder has also completed 100+ passes in eight different games this season, with only former Barcelona star Xavi in 2010-11 (nine) doing so in more in a single campaign on record (since 2003-04).

Bayern Munich – Harry Kane

Kane's 12 goals this season are already the most by an English player in a European Cup/Champions League campaign.

He has also scored in each of his last four knockout stage games in the competition, and could equal the longest streak by a Bayern player in the Champions League (five by Robert Lewandowski between 2016 and 2018).

MATCH PREDICTION: PSG WIN

PSG and Bayern have faced each other 15 times in the Champions League, and nine times across the last nine campaigns. Since the start of the 2017-18 edition, only Real Madrid against Manchester City has been played more times in the competition (13) than this fixture (nine).

And it is the Bundesliga side who have the better of this rivalry. They have won each of their last five games against PSG in the Champions League, including one earlier this season (2-1 last November). This is already the longest winning streak a team has achieved against the Parisiens in major European competition (five).

Kompany has won both of his Champions League meetings with Luis Enrique's PSG. If Bayern win here, the Belgian coach will have the most victories of any manager against Luis Enrique in the competition (three).

However, PSG have scored 2+ goals in each of their last eight knockout stage games in the Champions League, the joint-longest run in the competition's history. The only other team to do so in eight in a row was Barcelona between April 2015 and April 2016, who were also managed by Luis Enrique.

With a victory here, Luis Enrique would become the fastest to 50 wins of any manager in Champions League history (currently 49 wins in 76 games). The current record is held by Pep Guardiola, who achieved his 50th victory in his 80th game (Bayern Munich 2-0 Dinamo Zagreb in December 2015).

But as previously mentioned, PSG have struggled against Bayern in Europe. They have lost 60% of their games against them in the Champions League (9/15 – W6), with this their highest loss percentage against any opponent they have faced 3+ times in the competition. 

And you can expect goals at the Parc des Princes. PSG and Bayern are the joint-top scorers in the Champions League this season (38 goals), as well as having the two highest goals per game averages (3.2 for Bayern and 2.7 for PSG).
