Martin Odegaard is sure his Arsenal team-mates are relishing the chance to compete on two fronts, ahead of their Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid. 

Arsenal make the trip to the Metropolitano on Wednesday for the first leg of their final-four tie, fresh from returning to the top of the Premier League by beating Newcastle United 1-0. 

Mikel Arteta's side are assigned a 71.4% chance of winning a first top-flight title since 2003-04, while their probability of a first Champions League crown are rated at 36%, with only Bayern Munich (37%) better fancied by the Opta supercomputer. 

The Gunners will meet Atletico for just the fourth time in European competition, with half of those coming in this season's Champions League (2/4).

Arsenal won 4-0 in a league-phase meeting last October, which remains Atletico's joint-heaviest defeat in the competition (lost by four on five occasions).

Unbeaten in their last 12 (W10 D2), Arsenal are also one game away from equalling their longest-ever run without a defeat in the European Cup/Champions League, which stands at 13 games between March 2005 and April 2006.

That previous stretch took them into the 2006 final (versus Barcelona), which remains the only time they have reached the European showpiece, but Odegaard is optimistic regarding his team's chances this time around. 

"How can you not enjoy it?" Odegaard asked. "We are playing in the toughest and most competitive league in the world, and we are at the top fighting for the title. 

"We are in the semi-final of the Champions League. For me, it is hard to understand how you can not enjoy that. 

"That is what we have been dreaming about all our lives, since I was a kid. These are the moments I have been dreaming about. 

"For me, it is easy, as I said before, this is the best part of the season. The energy in the group is amazing, and we are ready for it." 

The clash with Atletico comes at a busy time of the campaign for Arsenal, who return to Premier League action on Saturday at home to London rivals Fulham. 

Arsenal then welcome Atletico to the Emirates Stadium on May 5, with league fixtures against West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace also still to come.

"I mean, it is the best part of the season, so yeah, everyone is up for it and everyone is excited," Odegaard said. 

"We know what we are playing for and tomorrow is a great opportunity for us to do something special. 

"We know what is there, we just have to be ready for it and enjoy it, take all the lessons from the past and bring it into this end of the season. 

"I am sure we are going to do that. We are looking forward to it."

Ahead of kick-off, Arteta confirmed that while Eberechi Eze, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber would be available for selection, Kai Havertz will not feature in the match.  

Arsenal's four games in the knockout stages of the Champions League this season have produced just five goals (four scored, one against), an average of 1.25 per game.

And, Arsenal and Atletico are the two teams that have played the most matches in the history of the European Cup/Champions League without ever winning the trophy, boasting 223 and 190 games, respectively.
